Water is available everywhere and very cheaply in Germany - at least that is still the case at the moment. However, due to climate change and the very dry summers of recent years, the problem of water scarcity has also become the focus of public attention in Germany. From a global perspective, water has long been a scarce resource and clean drinking water in particular is not available to many people. For this reason, one of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) calls for "access to safe and affordable drinking water" for all people.
