Sunday, 10.09.2023

The Catholic Academy in Bavaria houses three monuments on its grounds in Munich-Schwabing: the baroque Suresnes Palace, the Viereckhof and the stone Bavarian lion popularly known as "Swapo".

On the Open Monument Day, 10 September 2023, we warmly welcome you! You will have the opportunity to look around on site, visit the sights and enjoy the culinary delights in the castle park. We would be happy to inform you personally about the work of the Catholic Academy and the advantages of the attached hotel with conference centre.

Programme of the event:

The Catholic Academy in Bavaria is home to three monuments on its premises in Munich-Schwabing: the baroque Suresnes Palace, the Viereckhof courtyard and the stone Bavarian lion popularly known as the "Swapo". The preservation and maintenance of this cultural heritage is an important concern for the Academy. During the extensive restoration of Suresnes Palace a few years ago, equal consideration was given to the issues of monument protection, sustainability and functionality as a conference building. The City of Munich honoured the restoration of the Viereckhof, the oldest surviving farmhouse in Schwabing, with the Façade Award and the lion that once stood in front of the Munich Gestapo headquarters at the entrance to the academy commemorates the victims of National Socialism. On the Open Monument Day on 10 September 2023, we would like to welcome you! With a presentation - at 11.00, 13.00, 15.00 and 16.30 - we will briefly introduce you to the eventful history of our memorials. You will have the opportunity to look around the site, see the sights and enjoy the culinary delights in the castle park. We will be happy to inform you personally about the work of the Catholic Academy and the advantages of the adjoining hotel with conference centre.
