For the tenth time, Annette Schavan and Jan-Heiner TĂĽck invite you to the Theological Terzett! This time, Prof Dr Dr h.c. Hans Joas, Ernst Troeltsch Honorary Professor for the Sociology of Religion at
of the Humboldt University in Berlin. A warm invitation!

Programme of the event:

It has now become a tradition: Annette Schavan and Jan-Heiner TĂĽck have once again invited a guest to the tenth Theological Terzett. Hans Joas, born in Munich in 1948, is the Ernst Troeltsch Honorary Professor of Sociology of Religion at Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1990 to 2002 he was Professor of Sociology and North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin, from 2002 to 2011 Max Weber Professor at the University of Erfurt and Director of the Max Weber College for Cultural and Social Science Studies there. From 2000, he taught regularly for more than twenty years at the University of Chicago, where he is a member of the Committee on Social Thought. He has held other (visiting) professorships and fellowships around the world, is a member of various academies of science and the recipient of important prizes and honorary doctorates. His latest book publication is "Why Church? Selbstoptimierung oder Glaubensgemeinschaft" from 2022 and was already discussed in the Theological Terzett in September 2022.the books discussed in the Terzett will be suggested by the three discussants of the evening and read in advance.
