The "ecological footprint of digitalisation" refers to the environmental impact caused by the use of digital technologies. This includes the energy consumption of data centres, the production and disposal of electronic devices and data traffic on the internet. Every activity in the digital space, be it sending an email or similar, contributes to the ecological footprint.

How much energy do digital applications need, what is the impact of the increased use of AI, and can digitalisation also save electricity?

These and other questions are discussed in a new edition of our "Digital Salon".
