In the footsteps of Jesus - Part 3

The Christians of the first three centuries do not seem to have been interested in the exact location of Jesus' places and ways. But since Constantine the Great, a virtual carpet has been rolled out in the land, spatialising the sites of his ministry and suffering.
This is how the Gospels were made accessible. A systematic evaluation of pilgrims' reports, pilgrims' guides and other sources from 1700 years shows that the Holy Places were by no means stable, but were repeatedly relocated and redesigned over the centuries - a fascinating story that raises questions and is traced in three online lectures. The lectures on Tuesday evenings, 14, 21 and 28 March, build on each other - but can also be attended individually.
