The great preacher, theologian, philosopher, mystic and teacher did not have an easy time with his church. We want to clarify Meister Eckhart's relationship with his Dominican order and what role the church as an institution or space, the papacy, priesthood and dogmatics played for him.
At the centre of this are questions about the relationship between the individual and the community as well as the mediating character of institutions on the one hand and the direct encounter with God on the other.
