The symposium "Water: a human right and an economic good" offers the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the challenges posed by increasing water scarcity. Against the backdrop of accelerating climate change, the question arises as to how both the human right to water can be realised globally and how the resource of water can be used as an economic good in an economically and ecologically sustainable way.
Experts from various scientific disciplines will speak on these issues and you will have the opportunity to ask your questions and engage in dialogue with the speakers.

Cooperation with:

Academic Forum Augsburg

Special note:

Venue: The event will take place at Haus Sankt Ulrich in Augsburg.

Programme of the event:

Water is available everywhere and very cheaply in Germany - at least that is still the case at the moment. However, due to climate change and the very dry summers of recent years, the problem of water scarcity has also become the focus of public attention in Germany. From a global perspective, water has long been a scarce resource and clean drinking water in particular is not available to many people. For this reason, one of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) calls for "access to safe and affordable drinking water" for all people. The symposium "Water: a human right and an economic good" offers you the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the challenges of increasing water scarcity. Against the backdrop of accelerating climate change, the question arises as to how both the human right to water can be realised globally and how the resource of water can be used as an economic good in an economically and ecologically sustainable way.
